Paris Saint-Germain Overcomes Olympique de Marseille on Penalties to Secure Trophee des Champions Super Cup in the Middle East.

Trophy celebration scene

The Parisian club has now claimed the prestigious cup on fourteen separate occasions.

Paris Saint-Germain required a stoppage-time equaliser followed by a successful spot-kick decider to overcome Marseille in Kuwait and secure a fourth straight Trophee des Champions victory.

The Champions League holders appeared to be sailing towards a straightforward triumph in the match between the Ligue 1 winners and the Coupe de France holders after the French winger opened the net early on.

However, Marseille fired twice late to seize a surprise advantage. Initially, Mason Greenwood converted from the penalty spot, before the defender unfortunately directed the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a remarkable twist of events, Goncalo Ramos grabbed a crucial equaliser in the final seconds to force the match into a penalty shootout. PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier then emerged as the hero, stopping decisive attempts from O'Riley and Traore.

In the shootout, Goncalo Ramos, Vitinha, the full-back, and Desire Doue all scored with composure for Paris Saint-Germain to seal a 4-1 penalty win.

The record champions Paris Saint-Germain, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now lifted this competition for the 12th time in the last 13 seasons.
